* For some reason, the `data-trigger="hover focus"` does not work when
rendering the popover via HTML. It just defaults to click, so the
feedback popover for qtype_multianswer questions does not show on hover.
Configuring the feedback popover's trigger via JS seems to work.
This commit addresses compatibility issues in the qtype_multianswer
question type. The following changes were made:
- The usage of the undeclared property $maxmark on subquestions in
qtype_multianswer was identified as problematic. To resolve this,
the existing declared property $defaultmark is now being used for
the same purpose.
By switching to the declared property $defaultmark, compatibility with
PHP 8.2 is ensured and the issue with the undeclared property is
resolved.
According to Boostrap Popovers documentation for popovers triggered
on focus:
"For proper cross-browser and cross-platform behavior, you must use the
<a> tag, not the <button> tag, and you also must include a tabindex
attribute."
The YUI Overlay widget encloses the subquestion feedback in a div
which causes a div element to be enclosed in the subquestion span. This
leads to an accessibility issue in terms of HTML parsing as inline
elements (span) should not contain block elements (div)
The YUI Overlay widget is also not accessible as it does not really hide
the overlay contents via aria-hidden when the overlay is not being
shown. It's better if we stop using this and use Bootstrap's
popover component which is more accessible by default.
This patch also removes module.js for the qtype_multianswer plugin as
it only contains codes related to rendering the feedback contents in the
YUI overlay widget which is no longer necessary.
* Add the question number to the answer fields if it's available.
* Improve multiple choice question accessibility:
- Label the multiple choice question groups appropriately by
enclosing them in fieldset tags and applying sr-only legend tags to
label them.
- Apply Bootstrap form-check classes to the radio buttons, so they
are rendered better and become responsive as well. This also helps
avoid the use of the table element for layout purposes when
rendering horizontal multiple choice sub-questions.
In PHP 8.2 and later, setting a value to an undeclared class property is
deprecated and emits a deprecation notice.
So we need to add missing class properties that still need to be declared.

PHP before version 8.1 automatically converted to int if the function
parameter (or array key) is expected to be int. PHP 8.1 shows notice in
this case
Default value of the $flag argument changed in PHP 8.1 from ENT_COMPAT to ENT_QUOTES | ENT_SUBSTITUTE
To ensure consistent behavior across different PHP version the second parameter is now required for the functions:
htmlspecialchars(), htmlentities(), htmlspecialchars_decode(), html_entity_decode() and get_html_translation_table()
Recently, PHPUnit (all versions) did some changes about how the
comparators worked and this has caused some float comparisons
to stop working.
We need to move them to assertEqualsWithDelta(), allowing a small
tolerance to workaround the floats comparison problem.
0.00001 has been decided. And applied to all the similar assertions
within the unittest function, so if more cases are added to them
better be copied with the agreed tolerance.
This just deletes all the upgrade steps previous to 3.9.0. Some
small adjustments, like tweaking globals can also be applied
when needed.
Also includes an upgrade step to prevent upgrading from any
version < 2020061500 (v3.9.0) as anti-cheating measure.
The next commits will proceed to deprecate / remove functions
that were exclusively (usually belonging to upgradelib) being
used by those, now removed, upgrade steps. This is the list
of code to remove and document in upgrade.txt files:
- upgrade_analytics_fix_contextids_defaults()
- upgrade_convert_hub_config_site_param_names()
- upgrade_rename_prediction_actions_useful_incorrectly_flagged()
- \mod_forum\task\refresh_forum_post_counts adhoc task.
And these is the code that has NOT been removed
because it may be needed later (no matter there aren't uses now):
- \core_search\manager::clean_up_non_existing_area(), used by
- \core\task\clean_up_deleted_search_area_task adhoc task
To all the walkthrough, questiontype, question, upgradelibnewqe,
behaviourtype_test and edit_form testcase classes::
- Namespaced with component[\level2-API]
- Moved to level2-API subdirectory when required.
- Fixed incorrect use statements with leading backslash.
- Remove file phpdoc block
- Remove MOODLE_INTERNAL if not needed.
- Changed code to point to global scope when needed.
- Fix some relative paths and comments here and there.
- All them passing individually.
- Complete runs passing too.
Special mention to:
- When belonging to other component and being valid api:
- form related tests have been moved to tests/form subdir.
When questions are deleted, we now check if the parent is in use before deletion.
Prior to this, it would be possible for multianswer questions to reference
questions that have been deleted. This results in fatal errors when the quiz
is viewed.
This patch uses a dummy 'subquestion_replacement' to handle this case and
display some information to the end user about what has happened so that
they may take action to repair the corrupted question.
As a result of the bug described above, the sequence column of
mdl_question_multianswer can contiain references to questions that no
longer exist, and these IDs can make their way in to backups.
When this happens, the backups cannot be restored. To avoid this,
this patch skips trying to restore those questions that reference
question IDs that no longer exist (as there is no way to recover them).
Note that, instead of going one by one to them from the XMLDB Editor
(load, makes some tiny change, save, revert the change, save), the
report includes a commented line that, once uncommented, does regenerate
the file while reporting.
I've left it there as a commodity for the developer.
This commit implements the status change pop up for a question
in the base view. This feature update will allow the change of
status of a question without creating a new version.
This commit also implements the status as a char rather than
an int value.
The versioning changes will require some major changes
in the backup and restore of question bank and its
elements. This change introduces those changes to make
it compatible with the new world of versioning in question
bank. This commit also removes quiz_slots fields and
quiz_slot_tags table.
This commit will also introduce the versioning db
structure and some major changes to the quiz
and quiz attempts for the question, random
question and the view.
This commit implements the behat changes for versioning
in core question and associated locations.
This commit adds the changes in questiontype base
to work with new question tables and the new structure in the
databse. Also needed for versioning.
This implementation will also introduct the question status
which allows a question to be in draft and ready status.
I also introduces changes to the base view where it shows
the latest version of the questions. The view of versions
for a question is not implemented in this commit.
This implementation will also introduce changes in the core
qtype plugins to support versioning and the changed
db schema.
In PHPUnit 9.1, the following regexp-related assertions
have been deprecated and there are new alternatives for
all them:
- assertRegExp() -> assertMatchesRegularExpression()
- assertNotRegExp() -> assertDoesNotMatchRegularExpression()
This is about to, simply, move all cases to the new alternatives.

Regexp to find all them:
ag 'assertRegExp|assertNotRegExp' -li
This just deletes all the upgrade steps previous to 3.6.0. Some
small adjustments, like tweaking globals can also be applied
when needed.
Also includes an upgrade step to prevent upgrading from any
version < 2018120300 (v3.6.0) as anti-cheating measure.
Note that in this case, there wasn't any case of upgradelib
functions being used, hence we haven't to deprecate/remove
anything in codebase. When there is such a need, that is done
in separate commits (one for each function) and documented here.
See MDL-65809 commits for an example removing/deprecating a
good number of functions.
